Five Ghanaian Music Stars Nominated for 18th Headies Awards
Ghana dominates the West African category
All five Ghanaian artistes have been nominated in the West African Artiste category, where they will compete against Himra of Côte d’Ivoire and Senegalese music star Wally B. Seck.
The category reflects the Headies' recognition of leading musical talents from across the West African region and gives Ghana a strong presence at this year's ceremony.
Black Sherif returns to a familiar stage
For Black Sherif, the nomination represents another appearance in the Headies' West African category. He previously won West African Artiste of the Year at the Headies in 2023.
His latest nomination comes amid continued recognition of his music across Ghana and the wider African music industry.
King Promise earns additional recognition
King Promise also appears elsewhere among this year's nominees. His collaboration with Mr Eazi, See What We've Done, received a nomination for Best Headies Collaboration.
The recognition adds to the Tema-born singer's growing presence at major African music award platforms.
Ghana's growing influence
The nominations of Black Sherif, KiDi, King Promise, Stonebwoy and Moliy underline the growing international reach of Ghanaian music.
Their collective inclusion in the West African category places five Ghanaian artistes against some of the region's most prominent contemporary performers, highlighting the country's continued contribution to the development and global expansion of African music.
The Headies organisers state that music released between August 1, 2024 and April 30, 2026 was considered for the 18th edition.
With the ceremony set to take place in Toronto in October, attention will now turn to the final voting process and the artistes who will emerge as winners across the various categories.
For Ghana, the nominations provide another opportunity for its music industry to make a strong showing on one of Africa's most recognised music-awards platforms.
